A day or two later Tom did this stunt on the old Schwinn Mesa (my first mountain bike, hardtail with an ancient SID fork) as a group of fully loaded downhillers watched in amazement.

Jaws is a 14 foot drop to the level ground it is built on. The landing zone/transition is very steep. Depending upon one's speed off the drop the actual elevation change is more like 20 or 30 feet.
