The
Union Pacific, Kansas Division feature
the UP single track mainline artery across the heartland. This HO-scale railroad
measures 31 by 47 feet and depicts the UP running from Topeka, Kansas to Russell
on the old Kansas Pacific right-of-way, circa 1952 to 1956. New and
visible staging was recently added. Fifteen trains, 6 time freights, 2
locals, 2 interchanges (ATSF/CRIP), 1 PFE, and 4 passenger trains are run
in a 24 hour session on a 4:1 clock ratio. Dispatching is by track
warrant. Crew size is 11, with a dispatcher, 4 yardmasters, and 6 road crews. Radio communication and CTC-80 carrier
control.

About the layout host:
Charlie Stapleton is retired from the local power company after 33 years of
service. Charlie and his wife travel extensively, being away from home 20
to 25 weeks per year. He is a life member of the NMRA and is working
