Featuring the Chessie's best
hauling passengers and coal through Appalachia circa 1950s. This O-scale
measures 35 by 50 feet (in its own building!) and depicts machine versus
mountain from Gauley, West Virginia to Alleghany, Virginia. About 40
trains are run, including coal drags, heavyweight passenger trains and lots of
helpers in an 8-hour session on a 3:1 clock ratio. Dispatching is CTC with
a newly installed rebuilt real (and huge!) US&S CTC machine, with all the
prototype's squeaks and noises, installed in a C&O style cabin. Crew
size is 12, with 2(!) dispatchers, 2 yard crews/hostlers and 8 road crews.
Telephone communication and CTC-80 carrier control.
