Prairie Rail 2004 Editorial Comment!

<soapbox mode on> Back in 2001, we posted the schedule a week or two prior to the event, only to have a couple of cancellations occur late.  We have heard that these cancellations were made after the (non) participants looked at the schedule matrix, were unhappy with their assignments, and elected to bail out of the event.  It turns out that these people were rather late in replying with their desired layout choices.

While certainly nobody is holding a gun to your head to attend this event, we think this is pretty boorish behavior.  If you can't enjoy yourself on any of the participating layouts, well, you probably aren't trying.  If you get your selection in late, some of the "more popular" or less-frequently operated layouts may be filled-up.

BUT! there is a lesson to be learned here...get your choices in early!!!  Get after your Prairie Rail Coordinator to send in those selections.  <soapbox mode off>

We aren't going to present the attendance matrix this year...sorry.  It seems we are getting some "I wanna attend only the XYZ layouts, or I'm not coming" attitudes.

Friends, you gotta chill out!  Come to KC, run some trains, eat some barbeque, chat with some old friends, make some new friends.  It's all good!

For 2004, we have over 100 guests operating on 24 layouts, and we make every effort to get you your top choice or two to visit during the weekend.  Your ranked selections are thoughtfully considered in any decisions to fill the operating positions on a given railroad.

Please check to see that your name is listed and that any special scheduling requirements (early exit on Sunday, etc.) are reflected in the schedule.

Below lists the confirmed attendees.  If you think your name should be on the list and it isn't, notify your local Prairie Rail Coordinator!

Please address all comments to the Prairierail contact.

Oh, yeah, one final note.  Obviously we are deliberately mis-spelling your names just to tick you off, so be sure to rant and rave at us about our incompetence when you see us at Prairie Rail.
