Sam's Big Birthday Bash
Saturday, June 6th
4:00 pm
I can't believe our little man is turning one
already! We worked hard to have a fun party for family and
friends to help us celebrate our special little guy. The theme
was CONSTRUCTION. I made handmade invitations, a dump truck cake,
and toolbox favors for all the kids!

I found this fun dump truck balloon on ebay and got to work collecting little dump trucks for the food table.

A little pre-party snack to tide the birthday boy over!

"Mimi" and "Baboo" came to celebrate...and help take pictures of course!

The work zone!

The cake table complete with my dump truck cake, cupcakes, and Sam's invitation photo.

The dump truck cake:
chocolate cake with frosting cut into "boulders", chocolate
animal crackers crushed into "rock" sized pieces, and of course...gummy
worms!

Cupcakes with little tiny tool toppers

Some of the food spread out on the construction zone. I used plastic shovels as servers :)

My favorite truck!

Sam and I right before the guests arrived!

Pretty cute birthday boy huh??

The whole gang (ages 8 and under) who helped us celebrate!

We started off
with a ring toss. I used plastic diving rings and the kids tried
to ring construction cones. They thought this was a blast!

A gives the ring toss a whirl....her Daddy was trying to teach her the art of the "wrist flick" :)

Snuggling with his Mimi

Watching the ring toss...he was completely mesmerized by all the kids!

The we broke out the pinata!

And everyone took 3-4 turns with the bat....

Everyone gave it a few good whacks...

And it started to fall apart.

But after about 5 rounds each we gave up, broke it open, and dumped all the candy out for the kids!

It was a total free for all....although we did warn the big kids to help the little ones fill their bags!

The chocolate bars were snatched up in 2 seconds...then they took their time sorting through the other candy!

Sam's favorite buddy was content to sit, watch the excitement, and nibble on his toes :)

The we went inside to sing to the Birthday Boy and dish up the cake!

He definitely LOVED the attention...

And the cake!

After a quick bath in the tub (we tried the wet wipes first but they just weren't cutting it!)...he opened a few presents.

I had made these
little "toolboxes" as favors for all the kids. I bought them
unfinished at Hobby Lobby and spray painted them grey. Then I
hand painted them with a silver leaf to make them look more like metal
and added cute dump truck wooden decals and their names on the backside.

We filled their
toolboxes with a flashlight (and batteries), a keychain meauring tape,
a Home Depot nail apron, a paintbrush, and a chocolate bar. The
babies got a little dump truck toy too just for fun!

It was a
wonderful day with our family and friends. I can't thank everyone
enough for all their help in making Sam's birthday extra special!!!
