Let the Quacks Begin!

The 19th Annual Duck Race tradition draws a large crowd to watch the toy ducks shooting down a flooded creek to the finish line. The race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11th, down the Rio Shawnee from 61st Street and Nieman Drive to the Shawnee Post Office.

The race has grown each year; one thousand tickets have been printed with the goal of 1,000 plastic duckies in the water on Race Day. Individuals may adopt as many ducks as they wish. The owner of the first lucky duck to cross the finish line will win round trip airfare for two to one of Shawnee’s Sister Cities or $1,500 cash.
Duck tickets are available at Margarita's West, Arizona's Neighborhood Grill, as well as prior to the event at the race itself and Knights of Columbus Hall.
Suggested donation: $5 per duck. Money raised through this event is used to enhance the Shawnee Sister City Program.
