On December 15, 1840, Presley and Mary Nay sold to Moses Coons for $125.00, forty acres at the N.W. ¼ of the N.W. ¼ of Section 11 in township 11 of range 4 East. The long version follows:

This indenture made this fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty by and between Presley Nay and Mary Anne his wife of the county of Johnson and state of Indiana of the one part and Moses Coons of the state and County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Presley Nay and Mary Ann his wife for and in consideration of the just and full sum of One hundred and twenty five dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do here by acknowledge have given granted bargain sold and released and conveyed and do by these presents give grant Bargain sell release and convey and confirm unto the said Moses Coons and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county of Johnson and the state of the aforesaid it being the North West quarter of the North west quarter of section Eleven in township Eleven North of Range four East containing forty acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all the privileges and appurtenances unto him the said Moses Coons and unto his heirs and assigned forever and further that the said Presley Nay and Mary Ann his wife will well and truly warrant and _________ the premises herein and hereby granted unto the said Moses Coons and to his heirs and assigned against the lawful claim and demands of all and ever _______ whomsoever the day and year above written.
