Student Podcasts
The plan is for teams of three students to work together to make three recordings. For each recording one student would be recording engineer, while the other two dialogue, unscripted, about work of art they are standing in front of. One of the two speakers has spent more time looking at and thinking about the chosen work, perhaps doing a little research. The other student comes to the work fresh. After a 3 - 5 minute recorded dialogue, the roles rotate and a new work of art is looked at.

The result is less interpretation than response based on observation. The idea is to model a process for looking at a work of art and allowing meaning to be created personally, based on observation and description.

The finished recordings can then be published as podcasts to be accessed by teachers for use in their classrooms, or by students who can bring their mp3 players into the museum and have their own dialogues with the recorded voices about those pieces.

I plan to try to bring 12 - 15 students into the museum this summer (08)to create and publish 36 - 45 podcasts. That's the plan anyway.
The idea here, is to post podcasts recorded by New Dimensions students at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Under construction, please check back soon.
