I opted to deviate from the
numbers matching portion here in favor of drivability and fun.
Replacing the
original Powerglide is a performance built 700R4. The PG
has nothing wrong with it except, well...its a Powerglide.
This is definitely an area where new cars are better. The 700R4 is from Bow
Tie Overdrives. With 3.55 rear gears, the 700R4 extra low 1st gear is equivalent
to Turbo350 with 4.31 gears, but 4th gear is like having 2.49s in the
rear. Its the best of both worlds. The Powerglide was cleaned, new
seals, and will be stored.
