Isaac, his wife Elizabeth, and 2 sons, Nathaniel & Isaac, sailed in the ship "Elizabeth" from London April 8, l635 to Boston. As Isaac "Studman" he was certified by the clergyman of St. Alphese Cripplegate, and by two men from Blackwell Hall, which was the cloth market of London, to which all the cloth-weaving centres such as Biddenden sent their goods. It was in connection with this trade that Isaac Stedman probably went to London. He settled in Scituate, where he was admitted to the church l7 July l636. He was constable and freeman 7 June l648 (on the same day), removed to Boston in l650, and later was of Muddy River, now Brookline. He built the first saw mill in Scituate. He and his sons, Nathaniel & Isaac, were called before the Court numerous times for various offenses & fined 20 pounds damages. He was listed among the men of Scituate able to bear arms l643. He died in Muddy River at about 70years of age.

pg. 9 The first lot was appropriated to Isaac Stedman.pg. l2, l3 In l653, Cornet Robert Stetson was foreman of a Jury for laying out roads: and we find on record several ways laid out, viz. the road from the third Herring brook near Hanover Corners to Scituate Harbour; also the road from the "old mill" (so called at that time, and by which we understand Isaac Stedman's saw mill, at the place since called Stockbridge's mill." ... Also a road from Stedman's or rather George Russell's mill, or "the old mill," to George
Moore's bridge and onward to the common lands:pg. l6 The next was a saw mill, erected by Isaac Stedman, where the well known Stockbridge mills have since stood. We are without data as to the year when it was
erected: but we find it mentioned in l640 - and in l653 it is called "the old mill." (Scit. Rec. Vol. 2. p. 3.) It became the property of George Russell l646. This was probably the first saw mill in the Colony.pg. 339 ISAAC STEDMAN was in Scituate l637. He sold his farm to George Russell l650, (see Russell) and removed to Boston. He was often employed in public transactions of the Town while here; and in Boston, he seems to have been a merchant, by certain transactions of the Town of Scituate with him, after his removal. He died l678. His will gives "to son Nathaniel my present house, and half the orchard down to the Cold springe - to son Thomas, half the orchard, and all the salt meadow: to my wife, I relinqish all her property, &c. - to daughters Elizabeth Haman and Sarah Perry, 40 pounds each."

The mortality schedule states Louisa's age as 78 on December 1869. This would place her birth year as 1791. The 1860 (July 23) McDonough Census lists Louisa as 68 yrs. old. If the mortality schedule and Census are accurate, then Louisa was born between July 23, 1791 and December 1791.
