Mary STRONG

She lived in Northampton, Mass. She & her sister, Hester, were presented in court for "wearing silk in a flaunting manner and for long hair (wigs),and other extravagances, contrary to honest and sober order and demeanor, not becoming a wilderness state, at least the profession of Christianity and religion". Each was fined l0 shillings. She had 11 children, 4 of whom lived
to be over 90, 3 over 80, and 3 over 70. The 6 sons lived with their wives of their youth for over l50 years, and outlived them all. The daughters all outlived their husbands. The eldest child lived to be 98 & at the time of his death, there were 1,145 descendants of his parents, 960 of whom were living. She had 83 grandchildren.

John TOWNSHEND

In his will he ordered his body to be buried in the middle of the church of St. Mary's, Raynham, before the image of the crucifix of our Lord, and appoints one secular priest to celebrate, for his soul and that of his wife, for the space of 20 years. By this marriage, the Townsend family have right to bear the arms of Lunsford, Barrington, Belhouse, Marcy Manderville, Earl of Essex, etc. He had l sons & 4 daughters.

Joseph BARNARD

Joseph Barnard was killed by Indians at Deerfield, Mass.

Sarah STRONG

Her first husband was killed by Indians at Deerfield, Mass. Her second husband was a "boy hero" at the Fight at Turner's Falls in l676. She had 11 children by her first husband and 42 grandchildren.

Jonathan WELLS Capt.

He was the "Boy Hero" at the Fight at Turner's Falls in l676. At age l6, he rallied the rearguard action in the tragic retreat following this battle with the Indians. It took 4 years to recover from his wounds. For 1 1/2 years he laid in one spot on a bed, without being turned once. He was the military commander of Deerfield, Mass. during the Feb. 29, l704 massacre.
