[From "The Barnum Family, 1517-1904"]
The source referenced above calls him Matthew Starr Barnum. He was married to both Mary Starr and Rhoda Starr and had a son named Matthew Starr Barnum, so perhaps the source has confused his name with that of his son. According to Burgess St arr, he was a farmer in Bethel,Connecticut and "was drowned on his way to church in D." (probably Danbury) in Feb 1821 -- by Patrick Barnum, compiler of the Barnum Genealogy.Vital Statistics Danbury, Ct.
