VERNER L. TWITCHEL
Verner L. Twitchel, 81, died Feb. 1, 1991, in the Blue Ridge Nursing Home, 7505 E. 87th St. where he lived. He was born in Marceline, Mo., and had lived in this area since 1951. Mr. Twitchel was a greenskeeper at the Lake Quivira Country Club for 20 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Raytown. Survivors include his wife, Fern B. Twitchel, Raytown; three daughters, Betty Chastain, McLouth, Kan., Wanda Owen, Basehor in Leavenworth County, and Lois Hulsey, Raymore in Cass County; a stepdaughter, Betty Hase, Grosse Pointe, Mich.; a sister, Pearl Syler, Brunswick, Mo.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Muehlebach Chapel; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Association.
He served as a soldier under Capt. Wheeler at the Groton Garrison during King Phillip's War.
