Leroy Hammons, Lt. Col., volunteered l5 Sept. l8l4 at McMinnville, Tn. He served in the 2nd Regt., West Tennessee Militia under General Winchester. He was discharged at Wilson Springs, Al. l0 April l8l5.

Will of Leroy Hammons, Warren Co. Tn, written l9 Feb. l840, no record date.

Mary Hammons, widow of Leroy, petitioned for bounty land, 4 June l855, Warren Co, Tn.

It is possible, but not likely, that Williams also belongs in the second marriage.

Except if noted otherwise, all information on the second family is from a genealogy rec'd from Betty Taylor, Athens, Al., in l995. Names and birth order are as on Leroy's will.

30 Jan., l800, Leroy Hammons and Nancy Green, daughter of William and Juda Green, Surety, Robert Green (in) Marriages in Patrick Co., Va.

Also, I (Margaret Austin) saw the originals in the Patrick Co., Va. courthouse, but did not get a copy.
