Note by Margaret Austin:
Heirs of Thomas Summers, Sr., Wayne Co. Ky. Deed Bk. A:l38, dated 29 July l805.

Margaret Austin also says, "I spent about l0 days in N.C. in l988 on a research trip and identified five distinct groups of Summers families. The earliest that I can document our family there is l785, but if census reports of birth states of children are accurate, they were there earlier than that. As to where they were before that, it's anybody's guess. Possibly Virginia, but that's nothing more than a wild guess."

Margaret Austin suggest his birthdate as l726. She speculates his disappearance from the tax rolls while yet living was due to the exemption for being over age.
