Loose estate papers at the N.C. Archives. The Bible records of Edwin Hickman were published in the Vol. 12, No. l issue of "Journal of Surry Co. Genealogical Ass." (Feb. l992). This is again published in SURRY COUNTY N.C. WILL ABSTRACTS by Jo White Linn, l992. Found in the Genealogy Room of the KC, Mo. Public Library. This gives names of Edwin & Patey Isbell Hickman's children & in most cases birth dates. Also in most cases it tells who they married & date of marriage. For some it lists their children. It definitely names Patey Isbell as the wife of Edwin Hickman & gives their marriage date.

John F. Christian

Much information about John F. and his family came from Edna Mae Russell, his great-granddaughter. Other Christian cousins have also researched, and many of their sources have been published in the CHRISTIAN FAMILY CHRONICLES, edited by Agnes Branch Pearlman, of Santa Ana, California.

BIRTH: Date was found in 1919 by Col. John Buffalo Christian in the Family Bible of John Christian "B", in the possession of R.A. Christian, of Rt. 1, Amherst, VA, son of James Grisham Christian, youngest son of John "B." Mrs. Helen Carver of Modesto, California, great-granddaughter of John J. Christian, had received this date in a letter written to her by her Aunt Bertha Younghans Pohl telling about Col. Christian copying data from the Family Bible and giving a copy of the family data to her.

MARRIAGE: No documentation was found, but it is thought to have been about 1807 in Virginia.

MOVE TO MISSOURI: John's son, Samuel M., gave his "nativity" as Henry Co., VA in an Atlas of Moniteau Co. published in 1876, indicating that at least some of John F.'s children were born after the move to Henry Co. before 1817.

CENSUS: 1820 U.S. Census, Henry Co., VA; M33-Roll 139, p. 28. John was found there with two adults and eight children.

CENSUS: 1830 U.S. Census, Henry Co., VA; M19-Roll 195, p. 186. Two adults and 10 children.

CENSUS: 1840 U.S. Census, Morgan Co., MO; M704-Roll 227, p. 176. 6 males and one female, and 1 female, 50-56. He lived next door to daughter, Judith Hickman, 3 doors from daughter Mary & Robert Allison, and not far from another daughter, Elizabeth Hickman.

DEATH: Among the estate papers found in the Moniteau County Courthouse in California, Missouri, was found a petition for Letters of Administration by A. J. Worthley, dated 13 May 1848; this document gave the names of all of John's children, both living and deceased. This leads one to believe that death may have occurred a short time before that. His son, John J.Christian, challenged A. J. Worthley in court, and he became the new administrator on 2 April, 1849 This may cause confusion about his death date unless the researcher has seen the earlier 1848 petition.

Wade Woodson Christian

BIRTH: Furnished by Edna Mae Russell.

NAME: The name was listed as Wade Woodrow on the gravestone, as reported by the records in the Woods Library, however, the family name of Woodson is probably correct.

MARRIAGE: He was unmarried.

DEATH: Wade W.Christian died intestate 12 Mar 1861. John J. Christian was Principal; J. H. Christian and William Burden were Securities. More research is required. Edna Mae gave birth and death dates. It is not known whether or not she saw the grave stone or got the dates from relatives.
